Malang City – Indonesian College of Informatics & Computers (STIKI) Malang successfully held the International Workshop – STIKI Cross Cultural Event successfully on April 2 2024. This event aims to broaden students’ insight into the world, develop intercultural skills, and build strong connections with people from various cultural backgrounds, as well as preparing students to carry out international mobility activities so as to minimize culture shock.

The STIKI Malang Global Partnership Unit is responsible for technical preparation and dissemination of activity information to all STIKI Malang international partners. The preparation process has involved collaboration with various international institutions and institutions both as presenters and participants.

This activity highlights cultural and linguistic exchanges between Indonesia and Malaysia. One of the most prominent sessions was the session on trying languages ​​between countries, which was attended with enthusiasm by the participants.

Participation and responses from participants present were very positive. The number of participants in this activity was 290 participants from 7 different countries, namely Indonesia, Taiwan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Nigeria, Cambodia and Pakistan. This activity succeeded in increasing understanding and appreciation for cultural diversity, developing intercultural skills, building positive intercultural relationships, and increasing global awareness, creativity and innovation.

Responding to the success of this event, Datik Setyoaji, S.Si as Global Partnership Coordinator for STIKI Malang said, “The next activity is to carry out similar activities with DaYeh University, Taiwan. “Collaboration with STIKI Malang’s overseas higher education partners is expected to increase international insight, especially to increase students’ global insight in facing globalization.”

The STIKI Malang Global Partnership Unit hopes that the success of this event can enrich students’ learning experiences in a cross-cultural context, as well as help minimize culture shock for students or academics when carrying out international mobility activities.
