Malang City – The Metaverse sector is rapidly growing, and STIKI Malang is actively involved in this development. Leveraging its system development laboratory, STIKI Malang has taken a significant role in bringing forth and advancing the Metaverse into the real world. Therefore, STIKI Malang has collaborated with the Project Management Institute (PMI) Indonesia Chapter to develop innovative Metaverse technologies aimed at introducing and further understanding the Metaverse technology.

The project, a collaboration between STIKI Malang and PMI Indonesia Chapter, has progressed through several stages. This includes creating visual assets and selecting supporting applications for the Metaverse world, such as the Unity software with the Spatial Starter Pack Unity version, which is popular and supports the development of 3D content and Virtual Reality (VR) devices. Subsequently, the STIKIVerse team, representing STIKI Malang, conceptualized the environment and spaces that would form the foundation of the entire Metaverse project.

After designing the concept, the team began crafting maps, environments, infographic designs, and other elements according to the concept framework. Upon completing the initial development, the team posted their prototype on the Spatial web platform, which serves as the home for the Metaverse. This was followed by thorough checks to ensure there were no significant bugs or technical issues. After addressing any bugs, the team proceeded to refine and revise the maps uploaded to the Spatial web. The goal was to ensure optimal user experience and quality.

Once the final stage was completed, the STIKIVERSE team was ready to publish the maps they created into the Metaverse world. This was a crucial step in providing access to users. The published maps were checked across various platforms, including mobile, web/PC, and Oculus or VR devices. This ensured that the Metaverse experience could be enjoyed by users using various devices.

After completing all these stages, the STIKIVerse team had the opportunity to showcase the PMI Indonesia Chapter’s Metaverse project exhibition booth in Yogyakarta at the Symex 2023 event, held on October 3-4, 2023. This event provided an excellent opportunity to introduce the Metaverse world to professionals in project management.

The collaboration between STIKI Malang and PMI Indonesia Chapter demonstrates how Metaverse technology can be applied in various fields, including project management. This opens the door for further innovation in using the Metaverse for education, training, and various other aspects of the business world. It is hoped that this project will serve as a foundation for further exploration of the Metaverse in Indonesia, especially for academics to leverage the opportunities provided by this technology for the advancement of knowledge in a more immersive future.
